The "SMonday" Blues...

After coming off of a lazy weekend where I could have done something productive to better my future but decided to go out for drinks, watch TV and take multiple naps, I come into another Monday just like I always do. Feeling regret and not refreshed.
Sunday nights are characterized by sad faces, sighing. It’s to the point where my boyfriend asks “what’s wrong!” But answers his own question with “Oh yeah, it’s Sunday. You have work tomorrow”. I go to bed with every intention of making Monday great, but it’s usually not. Its just another day where I go to work, come home not wanting to cook dinner and then crash around 9:00 PM to do it all again.
I’m making an effort to create new Smonday experiences. Just because it’s the end /start to my week doesn’t mean it can’t be exciting or fun. Something as simple as changing my self talk and demeanor on Sunday nights so that I roll out of bed feeling more grateful to see Monday is making a difference. Being active helps too! No lounging all afternoon on Sunday, going to work out or grocery shop and meal prep. At least I'll go treat myself to frozen yogurt!
When Monday comes, I take more time getting ready for my day. Put more thought into how I look. ( because , why should anyone be ale to see your Monday blues all over your face?) At the end of the work day I try really hard to leave on time and make an effort to cook dinner, because I know it’s something that brings my happiness. Nothing fancy or time consuming though. Just a meal to be proud of. That’s a reflection of my Monday. I just want Smondays to be a time I can look back and say I laughed today. I don’t feel like I laugh a lot (unless I’m watching TV) lately, so if I can feel like that, then Monday is good!
Let's change how we feel going in to the new week people! It will never be as bad as you think it'll be.

I'm retired now, but I found that what helped me, not just on those SMONDAYS but everyday was to read from Acts of Faith- Daily Meditations for People of Color, by Iyanla Vanzant , either before going to work or I would take a moment before starting my work day to read Walk Tall-Affirmations for People of Color by Carleen Brice. which I kept on my desk at work. Those books would uplift me and change my dispositon. I called them my armour. Try finding something to read or listen to that makes you feel good. The Tom Joyner Morning Show would have me laughing hysterically on the drive in. It's hard be depressed when you're laughing.
